The Arab Cycling Federation Continues Its International Presence at the UCI Congress in Zurich

  • September 28, 2024

In response to an invitation from David Lappartient, President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), and on behalf of H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi, President of the Arab Cycling Federation, Counselor Ismail Salem Al-Hosani, Secretary General of the Arab Cycling Federation, attended the 193rd UCI Congress held in Zurich, Switzerland, yesterday, Friday. The meeting reviewed an agenda comprising 26 items focusing on the achievements of the UCI, national federations, and new member federations joining the UCI, as well as highlights of the UCI World Cycling Centre’s successes at its headquarters in Switzerland and its branches across the continents.

The presence of prominent figures such as H.E. Dr. Mohamed Wagih Azzam, First Vice President of the UCI and the Arab Cycling Federation, H.E. Abdullah Al-Wathlan, Second Vice President of the Arab Cycling Federation, and H.E. Mohamed Ben El-Mahi, President of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation, UCI Executive Committee Member, and Arab Cycling Federation Board Member, added significant value to this important annual meeting. Also in attendance were other Arab national federation presidents and members of the Arab Cycling Federation’s Board of Directors.

The Arab Cycling Federation has consistently ensured its participation in this vital meeting since 2018, the year it received international recognition as an organization representing cycling across Arab countries. The federation’s competitions have since been included in the UCI calendar, allowing Arab champions to earn qualifying points for upcoming international events.
