The Arab Cycling Federation Holds Its Regular General Assembly Meeting

  • November 18, 2024

The Arab Cycling Federation convened its regular General Assembly meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, via virtual communication. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi, President of the Federation, with the attendance of Board members and representatives from 16 national federations. Also participating in the meeting was Her Excellency Areej Al-Qahtani, Assistant Secretary General of the Union of Arab National Sports Federations. The meeting agenda was presented by Counselor Ismail Salem Al-Hosani, Secretary General of the Federation, and was technically coordinated by Executive Secretary Mohammed Fadi Kalash.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Sheikh Faisal Al Qasimi, who expressed his gratitude for the attendees’ efforts in supporting cycling sports. He also extended his condolences to the Sudanese and Arab cycling communities over the passing of Major General Mohammed Al-Bushra Salem, the former President of the Sudanese Cycling Federation.

The meeting addressed several key topics, including the approval of the minutes of previous General Assembly and Board meetings and a comprehensive review of the Federation’s achievements during the past period. Additionally, the launch of the Federation’s new electronic portal was announced. The portal, available in both Arabic and English for the first time, aims to align with modern technological advancements, extend the Federation’s presence in digital and international media, and foster broader relationships and partnerships with relevant federations and stakeholders.

In a step to enhance Arab cooperation, the meeting approved the Somali Cycling Federation’s membership in the Arab Cycling Federation, raising the total number of member federations to 20. The final accounts for 2023 were also approved, along with the 2025 budget. The General Secretariat was tasked with coordinating with the Federation President to determine the location and date of the upcoming electoral meeting, scheduled for May next year.

Concluding the meeting, Sheikh Faisal Al Qasimi emphasized the importance of focusing on youth, highlighting their critical role in advancing cycling sports and elevating Arab competitiveness on the international stage.
