The Management Committee of the Arab Cycling Federation held its first meeting of 2024 on Saturday, November 9, 2024, via virtual conferencing, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi, with the participation of the majority of vice presidents, committee members, and the Federation’s General Secretariat.
During the meeting, the committee discussed several key topics, most notably the approval of proposed amendments to the Federation’s technical regulations, recommended by the Executive Office. The financial budget for the upcoming year 2025 was also approved, along with the appointment of a supervisor and chief referee for the track championship to be held in Egypt in December.
Regarding financial matters, the committee approved the external auditor’s report on the Federation’s 2023 expenditures and endorsed the expenses incurred up until the end of September 2024 from the current year’s budget. Additionally, all recommendations presented by the Executive Office were ratified and set to be implemented in the upcoming period.
One of the notable decisions made by the committee was the formation of a sub-committee chaired by Abdullah Al-Wuthlan, Vice President of the Federation, with the membership of several committee members, the Secretary-General, and the Assistant Secretary-General. This sub-committee will study the fees and expenses related to participation in Arab championships and propose initiatives to encourage national federations to host and participate in these events. The findings of this study will be presented at the next committee meeting.
The Algerian Cycling Federation was awarded the General Excellence Shield for the 2023 season for achieving the highest score across all categories.
The committee also directed the General Secretariat to continue offering the approved championships for 2025-2026 to national federations, emphasizing the importance of sustaining Arab championships in the coming years to strengthen the Arab presence in cycling, as has been the case in previous years.
Finally, the committee reviewed the preparations for the upcoming (regular) General Assembly meeting, scheduled for next Friday via virtual conferencing.
