The Board of Directors of the Arab Cycling Federation held its first meeting for the year 2026 remotely on Saturday, 8 February 2026, chaired by H.E. Dr. Yasser Omar Al-Dokhi, President of the Federation, and attended by Board Members and the General Secretariat. The Board discussed several key agenda items and adopted a number of decisions aimed at further developing cycling at the Arab level.
The meeting commenced with the approval of the Federation’s Strategic Plan for the period (2025–2028), with confirmation to proceed with its implementation according to the approved timeline and in alignment with the Federation’s objectives and future vision.
The Board also approved awarding the organization of the 2026 Arab Road Cycling Championship, Arab Para-Cycling Championship, and Arab Mountain Bike Championship to the Syrian Arab Cycling Federation, to be held in either June or October of the current year.
The Board ratified the results of the 2025 Arab Cycling Federation Overall Excellence Shield, with the Iraqi Cycling Federation crowned Overall Champion after topping the general standings.
On the administrative side, the Board decided to form a specialized committee to review the Federation’s Statutes and draft proposed amendments, in addition to forming the “Arab Cycling City Award” Committee, within the framework of enhancing governance and developing qualitative initiatives.
In a step reflecting the Federation’s expansion, the Board approved the membership applications of the Comoros Cycling Federation and the Djibouti Cycling Federation, to be submitted to the General Assembly upon completion of membership requirements.
The Board further approved the appointment of the heads of the Federation’s permanent supporting committees, namely: the Technical and Competitions Committee, the Commissaires Committee, the Women’s Cycling Committee, the Media, Marketing and Investment Committee, the Disciplinary, Values and Ethics Committee, the Strategy and Follow-up Committee, the Solidarity Committee, the Coaches Committee, the Athletes Committee, the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee, the Appeals and Grievances Committee, and the Elections Committee.
In addition, the Board approved the formation of the Board of Directors of the Arab Cycling Center and endorsed the agreement with City Mountain Bike Company to organize the Arab Mountain Bike Eliminator Championship.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Arab Cycling Federation reaffirmed his commitment to continuing institutional work and advancing the Arab cycling system in a way that strengthens the Federation’s position and serves national federations and athletes across the Arab world.
