The Women’s Cycling Committee of the Arab Cycling Federation held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Eng. Khulood Al Dhaheri, with the participation of committee members. During the meeting, the committee discussed its vision and work plan for the coming period under the slogan “A Bright Future for Arab Women’s Cycling”, as part of ongoing efforts to support and develop women’s participation in cycling across the Arab world.
At the outset of the meeting, Ms. Karima Salah El Din was appointed Vice Chairwoman of the Committee, while Ms. Ibtisam Hassan was appointed Committee Secretary. Members emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the committee’s objectives and strengthening the presence of Arab women in cycling.
The Chairwoman stressed that the committee’s initial phase of work should focus on three key pillars: proposing and organizing women-specific championships and competitions to be included in the Arab Cycling Federation’s calendar, supporting and qualifying female personnel in coaching, officiating, administration, and sports event management, and developing specialized programs and initiatives to support women’s cycling while monitoring their implementation in coordination with Arab national federations.
The committee also discussed the importance of developing a comprehensive database on the current status of women’s cycling in the Arab world. This database would include information on female athletes, coaches, commissaires, and administrators, providing a solid foundation for future development plans and programs based on accurate data and the needs of the coming stage.
The meeting highlighted the importance of organizing regular dialogue sessions for women involved in and interested in cycling across Arab countries, whether through in-person meetings or online platforms. These sessions would facilitate the exchange of experiences, strengthen communication, and promote cooperation among Arab female professionals in the sport.
In addition, members discussed the idea of establishing an Arab Women’s Cycling Team, with the aim of further developing women’s cycling and enhancing its presence in regional and international competitions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Eng. Khulood Al Dhaheri expressed her appreciation to the committee members for their participation and engagement, emphasizing that this meeting represents the first building block in the journey toward advancing Arab women’s cycling. She wished all members success in implementing the plans and programs that will contribute to achieving the committee’s objectives and aspirations.
