Arab Cycling Federation Solidarity Committee Holds Its First Meeting

  • June 4, 2026

The Solidarity Committee of the Arab Cycling Federation held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with the participation of committee members Aboumediene Mohamed Al Mokhtar Al Jahawi (Libya), Samir Aqbibou (Morocco), Farqad Jassim Mohammed (Iraq), Mahmoud Mohamed Idris Ouhaj (Sudan), and Sayed Shubbar Al Wadaei (Bahrain), to discuss the committee’s work plan and future programs.

At the outset of the meeting, the Chairman welcomed the members and emphasized the important role of the committee in strengthening cooperation and solidarity among the Arab member federations, while supporting efforts aimed at developing the sport of cycling throughout the Arab world.

During the meeting, it was agreed to appoint Mr. Samir Aqbibou as Vice Chairman of the Committee and Mr. Sayed Shubbar Al Wadaei as Committee Rapporteur.

The committee members discussed a number of important topics and priorities, including the development of training and qualification programs for riders and administrators, as well as establishing plans to enhance their capabilities. The committee also explored ways to support the organization of Arab races and championships, in addition to discussing mechanisms for developing Arab cyclists and studying the reasons behind the decline in Arab representation at international competitions.

The meeting further highlighted the importance of supporting various age categories and providing programs that contribute to talent identification and development, as well as promoting the exchange of technical and administrative expertise among Arab federations to enhance performance standards and sporting achievements.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee decided to prepare a comprehensive draft work plan for the upcoming period, including its objectives, initiatives, and proposed programs. The draft will be presented and discussed at the next meeting before being approved and submitted to the Board of Directors of the Arab Cycling Federation.
